The short version

Black Drawer is a local map of where your things live. Your places, drawers, photos, notes, and item lists are stored on your iPhone and nowhere else. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDK.

What stays on your device

• Every photo you take or pick, at full resolution, in the app's private storage.
• Place names, drawer names, notes, and item names with quantities.
• An API key you paste into Settings, in the iOS Keychain.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. Nothing is synced to iCloud or to us.

The one optional network feature: “List items”

When you tap List items on a drawer, that single photo (downscaled) is sent over HTTPS so a vision model can suggest item names for you to review. It never runs on its own.

• Free path (no key). The photo goes to our Cloudflare Worker, which forwards it to a model provider (OpenRouter / Google Gemini, or Alibaba DashScope for Greater China) and returns the suggested list. We do not store the photo. The provider processes it under its own terms and, to our knowledge, does not retain it for training.
• Your own key. The photo goes directly from your iPhone to the API URL you set in Settings. We are not in the path.

Data we receive on the free path

• The photo you chose, held in memory only for the duration of the request.
• A random device identifier the app generates on first launch. It is not your Apple ID, advertising ID, or serial number, and it is not linked to you. We use it only to enforce a fair-use limit of 8 free lists per device per day, and we store it hashed with a counter that expires at the end of each UTC day.
• Your region code (for example US) so requests from Greater China can use a provider that works there.
• Standard request logs (status code, timing, a truncated hash of the device identifier) kept briefly by Cloudflare for operating the service.

We do not use any of this for tracking, advertising, or profiling, and we do not sell or share it. Data collected is used only for app functionality.

Children

Black Drawer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
